Vegetarian Pet Food

Vegetarian Pet FoodVegetarian food for pets?

After all this scandal to feed, a question of vegetarians and vegans ONLY! (We do not need comments from people who are not concerned by this question)
Do you have pets? And do you feed them meat / fish or vegetable food for pets? I believe that animals are carnivores by nature, and then again, how natural are dogs and cats after living with humans over the centuries? I hear the advice of a veterinarian or breeder who feeds vegan or vegetarian pet food. I heard there are for dogs, but have never seen the cats (we live in London / United Kingdom). I feed my cats, fish, and sometimes rice with vegetables and tofu, they eat well. I'm not sure yet if this is right for them. I hate the idea of buying the canned meat and fish do not feel better. What you give your dogs and cats?

You can feed your animals a diet all vegetables, however, you must supplement it with various vitamins and minerals.

You're right that the animals are carnivores by nature (and therefore humans), and can cause damage to your system by eating strictly vegetables.

Talk to your veterinarian's advice, and designed to get your pet. Poor nutrition (whether vegetarian or otherwise), may make them sick, lethargic, and just generally in poor condition.

I'm vegan but I'm only 17 so I can not give you the same advice to a veterinarian who told you, but the animals are carnivores and I think that feeding meat to the regular diet is probably the most sure to keep your pet healty. I have a Husky and he loves tofu lol and I do not know how to feed tofu is bad because the ingredients are naturalbut I think animas need the right nutrition to keep strong and healthy, so that, for now I think you should feed your pet the food recommended until you consult a veterinarian.

I talked to my friend about this thing this morning. She has a dog, and it feeds mainly on chicken and rice. I have a rabbit, a Hampster, and a bird, so they are vegetarians by nature. My friend is the mindset that animals 'need' meat, but again, people think they do too, so it's hard to know. If I had a dog, I would try them on a high protein vegetarian diet, to see how they reacted. I expect a change in bowel habits upfront, but they think like humans adapt to a vegetarian diet. My biggest concern would be with an animal desire, and if they become aggressive when they have obtained. Sorry I have no better answer, but just my opinion on the matter. Great question, which gives it a star

I heard this question before and I was told
sectors that carnivorous animals tract (gut)
are too short to achieve adequate food from a vegetarian
eating ..

What about the veterinary / animal health technicians, who are not vegetarians or vegans, but we know about the nutritional needs of animals? Are they allowed to answer your question?

Although dogs and cats --- and in this case, cats in particular --- have lived alongside man for a couple thousand years, biologically, they are still what they always were. Their habits and temperament can be changed, but not their physical components.

Dogs are, by their nature, more omnivorous than cats. Dogs can survive OK if their diet consists of whole grains and vegetables. feeding cats may include grains, too (cat food contains the most commercial corn meal and / or rice flour), but the ingredients are mostly non-nutritive filler.

Get a rabbit!

Totally herbivores, they should not eat meat. And they are a lovely beautiful animal. You can even teach them to use a litter box and keep them in the home rather than stuck in a cage outside.

I have never eaten meat in my life, my cats get almost nothing but.

I do not have great things to say about people who are trying to force vegetarian diets or vegan on their cats. .
