Paris Vegetarian? Hello!
I am a vegetarian and will be in Paris this summer for a month.
Can anyone suggest their favorite vegetarian restaurants / dishes?
Nothing too expensive, please - I am a poor student!
Thank you!
I am vegetarian and I just visited Paris. Breaky was a crescent with easy cappuccino (perhaps a little yogurt). I found plenty of sandwiches and salads, I could eat for lunch. It was the dinner that was the problem.
While many restaurants wait staff speaks little English, I would have written the phrase "no beef, pork, chicken or meat, please. I am a vegetarian. Please." (Translated into French, of course). So I could give it to the boy. I also wish I had written to the French translation of a steak, beef, pork, fillet ... because I could look at the menu and see words written in French and I know that those dinners, I do not want to order.
Ultimately, it all worked out OK, but after six days, I was starving and I finally broke down and ate at McDonald's (BARF).
I suggest you consult the various sites that list vegetarian restaurants in Paris a few. Here's one: http://nwfolk.com/vegparis.html
A vegan diet is so contrary to every principle of French cuisine that the concept has had little traction in France. However, the demand is there, mostly tourists, and there are at least some lip service in many restaurants it otheriwse normal.
There are some vegetarian restaurants in Paris.
But in many restaurants, you can choose a vegetarian meal, for example in pizzerias or chain Hippopotamus.
