Any experienced backpackers vegan / leather hiking boot non-advice? Does anyone have experience with vegans (not leather) shoes hiking? I do not need a list of those available online .. I know where to find them. I'm looking for someone with experience give me their picks for the best three or four hikers season. I have some light ones, but I can never find a very comfortable boots. And since this is technically a food category, what is your favorite vegetable food * No camping? :-D
I have a pair of boots Lowa Vertex GTX that I have not used a ton, but I love them. They are fairly lightweight, and have a strange kind of support system outside the plastic ankle. The synthetic leather uppers and have a Gore-Tex lining. I carried a backpack trip 5 days in Shenandoah, in March, and they did great. Even if they are billed as light hikers, I had a 25-30 lb pack and they were fine.
The plastic squeaks out, which does not bother me, but could you mad, then take them into account.
Also, I have never tested the Mac-Ness, but others said that it is not great. Another thing to consider, but it will be difficult to find non-leather boots that are waterproof and breathable.
There are several reviews floating around that can give you more information in depth.
No matter how you justify the faux leather is not the case as well as real leather for shoes.
