Taste Of The Wild

Posted on March 2, 2010.
Taste Of The WildHow do I get rid of the wild taste of the meat dear?

I hooked up the doe for three days, then treated the expensive, but didn't reverse he treated standerd! I've even soaked the meat in salt water overnight and I still cannot get rid of the wild taste

Boning is something that cam be done immediately and reduce the possibility of having this taste gamy.
I read in a book how to get rid of the "gamy" taste of venison. The method requires planning, though very short time. I take the cup from the freezer and thaw. Then I soak in a brine solution, no action, just a little salt in the water in the refrigerator overnight. The next morning, I change the water and rinse and put the meat in a clean saline. The next day, I do it again. On the third or fourth day, I rinse the meat and soak in water for the night. The next day, I either prepare or marinate for another one more night and then it's ready. It does not taste anything like venison.

I also heard the use of milk or buttermilk to soak the MEST.
Personally I have never done nothing but add fat ground meat. (Not me Jane)

Marinate in lemon juice and soy sauce (refrigerated) at least 12 hours before cooking

One way my grandmother made me make us eat deer meat. Was to mix with ground beef and Sloppy Joe's.
I guess that does not really answer your question. But that's all I have. Other than the seasoning of the meat strongly.

My mother and my father used to soak the meat in buttermilk overnight it did not taste gamy away, but it decreases significantly. I hope it works equally well for you as it did for them.

trying to get the deer feed primarily farm-fields, near and not near or in the lowlands "wild" country. deer take a taste of what they eat.

Marinate, marinate, marinate. Get the best steak sauce you have in your area and marinate for a few days. Everything about the cooking method. I think all the guys I work with is a hunter and I said deer tastes gamy and they told me that if you cook it properly, it will be tasteful. It is all these guys are talking about right now, because it is deer season.

This gamy taste different is why people like game. I think soakin it may be useful, but you can always season, or crush and add to noodles or something.

cook with garlic or lemon
