What should I do about working two jobs to 20yrs old? I'm 20 and have a one year old boy. I live with him as both his mother in an apartment rental IM. The thing is that I work two jobs since October and havent had a day off since Christmas. I work all week in a Burger during the night and on weekends I work in a seafood restaurant I have been able to stay on board with the bills, but all I have at home tired and never really had time to spend with family. Since there is only one car, and I can not afford a lot of day care for children, my wife (18) stays at home taking care of our child. I applied to college in January but gave up the exam when Thea came because I didn't have enough money for it, and the time to study before. I'ved thought about quitting work seafood What should I do? Im only 20, do I still have hope in my life to achieve something better. how? I need help. Do not want to continue to work two jobs forever.
In what state do you live? You can search for jobs through the Public Service Commission, both the state and local employment. I live in PA, and the site is: scsc.state.pa.us.
If you were a resident of your state of at least one year, you are eligible and can register to write a review of the public service without charge. There are hundreds of job categories, but one of the easiest to obtain is placed in office. If you can type at least 40WPM, you will. You can get the library books that help you with the "writing" part. (Technically it is taken on a computer.) They will test your skills in filing, interpersonal skills and ability to take direction / time management, and simple math. The project takes about one hour.
Then they put you on a list of state and local and you start receiving job offers in the mail. The higher your test score, the better your chances of finding a good job. Most appointments start at $ 22,000 / year and you get $ 1,000 per year on average increase. Some appointments start at $ 24-30k. It depends on what category you choose, and how you do the test.
Good luck.
Sorry for your situation. I had to work two jobs out of college because I got my degree in psychology (though the simple act of going to university some ways, it's major). I'm just now at the point where I can work a job, 75 weeks after working hours for 5 years. However, I have just enough to survive w / o worrying about the bills, but not enough to really live. My plan? Going back to school.
Your situation is different because you have a child. I can not imagine what that would bring responsibilities and restrictions that will make you free. However, if you can, try to get a job in a field in which you want to major. Several times, the employer must pay for your tuition if they believe that you will use your education / training there.
I also know of someone who has been trained to become an electrician. It has never been a good student, but makes more money than any other friend. He began by working for someone he knew, and that's all.
Of course, you can join the army. It is not for everyone, but they provide education. Your family will have a place to live free and you'd be able to get a better paying job after being released.
I do not know exactly how it feels to be short of money, but I could feel your pain. You are an excellent example of the dangers of early marriage.
Obviously not enough flip burgers, and two jobs is not usually the answer ... just because you're too tired to do anything else. I suggest you swallow your pride and ask the woman to consult Adm. social sectors, perhaps get SSI to help you out temporarily. In the meantime, visit the employment office from time to time to see what can be opened only pays a little more than flipping burgers.
If you are good with your head, you can consider the possibility of applyin.
