Poulan Chainsaw (Wild Thing) Bar oil problem, any advice Please? I have a Poulan chain saw 18 "wild thing, I do not get oil in my bar and chain, has anyone any ideas why?
How does the oil pump?
Where is it?
I'm sure this is not the oil by gravity. It is a diaphragm pump. Remove the bar and clean all the passages. Check the plastic pipes that supply oil. Also check on the end of the hose into the tank, there should be a "duck bill" valve at the end of the hose. The pipe can not have holes or collapsed.
Thomas is correct .. it is an automatic lubricator .. just gravity ... Clean small plastic tube that is located on the left side, under the guise that you are holding it off .. I mean the left side as you hold it ..
You can remove the bar and chain, leave the lid, then start the saw and look for oil out. I had an old Poulan that was a crack in the odd bar that oil had to travel through to get to the chain, and it clogged easily. The oil is out of the fine saw, it just was not going to the blade and a bar. The crack was so small that it took me a minute to find it, but I knew it had to be there when I saw how and where the oil was entering the bar. My new model does not have this. Good luck.
there is no oil pump. is the gravity tube clean debris may be in it. also check if you have a cold bar and chain oil. stop going to Home Depot and find a real chain saw dealer (jonesred etc.), it will be a cold bar and chain oil and best advice me.a thick bar and chain oil for the summer draws looks a bit like below 40 degrees. If you're in Florida than clean the tank and tube.
