lentil burger recipe ... Help? can I make burgers lentils canned lentils or do I cook??
Preferably, dried lentils. You want to place them in a saucepan with water and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to low and simmer until tender, about 30 minutes. Drain.
I always thought that when you put a ball of veggie burger on a bun you find yourself with a burger experience that is too dry and bready. She finally lifted on me to turn the cake in bread by dividing it into two, then the farce of all sorts of delights - the lawyers, the Greens, tomatoes, onions, spreads, whatever. This burger lens uses the same approach.
I bet caramelized onions would add another dimension of depth and flavor is on (or in) them, if you have a little more time on your hands. How about chopped cilantro? Or a little crumbled goat cheese, you know I love the lemon zest in almost everything, or chopped dried tomatoes, chives, finely chopped nuts, a little corn .... not all at once of course, but feel free to tip the lentil mix with a few extras if you're feeling adventurous.
