That seafood is not kosher? also, what vegetables, fruits and nuts are not kosher? Thank you very much!
molluscs are not all fish are kosher, but until they have both fins and scales and all nuts, fruits and vegetables are kosher
The previous posters are right that all fish must have fins and scales to be kosher.
While all fruits, vegetables, grains and nuts are kosher, there are several concerns to be aware.
1) The insects and worms are not kosher, and produce may be necessary to check before eating. An example: lettuce often has little bugs that are only noticed a thorough inspection.
2) The produce grown in Israel, because of the holiness of the land has special requirements. An example: a party must be separated from the charity before the rest can be eaten.
3) and jars of canned fruits and vegetables can contain additives, so they need to have kosher certification to ensure that all ingredients are kosher.
In some other posters mentioned, all shellfish are not kosher (shrimp, scallops, lobster, etc..) Moreover, if it hath not fins and scales, it is not kosher. As shown in the Chicago Rabbinical Council: bony tubercles and plate or thorn like scales that can be removed only by removing part of the skin are not considered scales in this context. Some fish that have such a scale, such as eels, lumpfish, shark, sturgeon, and swordfish, are not kosher. In addition, crustaceans, mammals and eggs - All shellfish and mammals (like whales and dolphins) are not kosher. Catfish is not kosher (it's a bottom feeder and a fish unfit)
Nuts, plants and fruits are kosher.
Meat - if it chews its CUD and has a split hoof, it is generally kosher. Therefore, pork is not kosher, or rabbit. In addition, the animal must be killed ritually and humanely. Departure: http://www.kosherconsumer.org/course.htm and http://www.crcweb.org/kosher/consumer/fi ...
