Is there an Orthodox community near the town of Redwood Shores, California near San Francisco? I might be working on a draft environmental assessment (the game company) in Redwood City, California. It is about 20 minutes south of San Francisco. It would be more than a week, so I was wondering if there were synagogues (synagogues) around the area. (The Orthodox.) Also, they kosher available? And what is the symbol of kosher food in California?
The San Francisco Jewish Community Federation serves the entire San Francisco Bay and beyond.
Their guide Jewish life in the Bay Area lists four Orthodox congregations in Palo Alto (7 km S of the RWC) and a San Mateo (8 km N to RWC). To see more details, go to: http://www.sfjcf.org/resources/guide/
You can also check their list of kosher restaurant at:

Check this site kosher restaurant, too:

Here is an article that contains an image of the four most common kosher symbols on food packages in the United States, including California:

(There are many certification bodies, and the circle-U means certified by the Orthodox Union).
Hope that helps. Enjoy your stay in the Bay Area!
sorry, I thought you were speaking Greek / Orthodox Church of the West ... lol:)
The symbol might be to hide a box with a KSA in it, with some bebrew letters below. It is the symbol of kosher supervision of America based in Los Angeles.
As for the congregation that you seek, I do not know of an individual. But contact youcould local Jewish Community Center there, located in Palo Alto, CA. They should be able to direct you to a good Orthodox community.
