Choose health, crude protein. You may want a salad main course being a little more than simply support the leaves and vegetable salad. But make sure you add the right things. Avoid processed meats - Frankfort canned, breaded fried chicken, very poor quality of packaged ham. These piles on the fat and are crammed with additives. Instead, broil or poach a fresh, free range or organic chicken breasts, slice thinly and voila! A healthy, satisfying salad.
Go easy on the cheese. A cheese salad is quick and easy to do, but do not be too generous when you stack the cheese on your plate. The cheese is dense foods high in fat, and a few tablespoons of grated cheddar salad boost your calories by 100 or more.
Use whole grains and legumes. You can make the most delicious salads, whole wheat pasta with cold, whole wheat couscous, quinoa (a high protein, low fat grain), brown rice or lentils. With all these things just cook and cool, mix salad with chopped vegetables, herbs and maybe a few flakes of tuna, smoked mackerel, diced hard-boiled egg or the chicken and coat lightly.
Choose salad dressings healthy. Avoid higher fat options such as mayonnaise. If you use a vinaigrette or creamy dressing, add sparingly, not to wet ingredients. For a healthier option, a spark of your salad with the lime juice, tomato salsa, and lots of chopped fresh herbs.
Getting the right leaves. Turn your back on tasteless lettuce as the ubiquitous Iceberg. Look for dark green leaves, which are full of nutrients. Think spinach, arugula (Rocket), Cos lettuce, salad leaves, watercress. Buy tickets for fresh seasonal herbs, like parsley, tarragon, basil, dill, and destroy them in your salad for many fragrant.
