Gestational Diabetes Diet Menu

Posted on February 22, 2010.
Gestational Diabetes Diet MenuI was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and my nutritionist gave me a menu plan, the problem is ...?

I'm still hungry after almost every meal! as for breakfast, I can eat a slice of bread with butter, and I eat, but I'm still hungry, in fact, this morning, my stomach rumbling! I have another appointment with my dietitian on 23, but until then I do not know, what am I supposed to do?? Yesterday I had a bit of rice more than half a cup They tell me to eat and my blood sugar rose :-( I have been eating butter bread for breakfast every day n even but now, sugar was still within normal range but higher than what I get every day after breakfast and every day is between 97 to 101 and today it was 124 "I do not understand. Although it was still below 135, which is what it said it should be, but ... this plan :-( very strong and very confused and I do fill I have 28 weeks and 3 days by road.

You made the right decision - to see your nutritionist. If you are sufficiently qualified nutritionist, I am inclined to follow his advice. Yes, I agree that we should not be "the hunger" after you've got what you're allowed. My feeling is that you are constantly feeling hungry because you are now having to live with a lower blood sugar you're used to. Over a period of time, I have seen many patients get used to living with lower blood sugar, sedative drugs and oxygen saturation less. I think you'll be able to adapt, but it will not happen in the short term. Good luck.

I used to run a psychiatric unit. The unit motto was, "You have not failed until you shut down trying."

Good luck and best wishes. Continue to be under the care of professionals. Do not forget your contribution to your well-being.

It seems that your plan is structured appropriately for a pregnant woman. Diabetics are allowed to eat lean meats and vegetables in almost any reasonable proportion. What you can not eat are the starches (like bread, potatoes or rice) and sugars (fruits, sweeteners, jellies, jams, juices, sodas, etc.).

The bread and butter are not suitable for diabetics breakfast, too rich in starch and fat. You should eat protein (boiled egg with peanut butter). No wonder your blood sugar is poorly controlled. Start eating leafy greens, you can have lots of that without worrying about your blood sugar will whack (but light hand with the salad dressing), Eat steamed vegetables (no butter). Instead of butter on your bread, try a little peanut butter (in limited quantities) drink skim milk.
You do not mention if you are already obese, or if your pregnancy weight gain within normal limits, but you should not go without food because this can make DKA worse.
Contact the dietician by phone and the plan review menu again so you understand. Stay away from pasta, rice and starchy foods.

Here is a sit on diabetes. I know you have a temporary situation - hopefully, but he speaks of the underlying disease. www.diabetes-support.com There are articles.

Hopefully you can help.

Gestational diabetes is usually transient, many pregnant women during the execution. There is a risk factor but not a given that you will get diabetes after you deliver. With your family history, you must eat the best, whole foods, very few empty calories, high in fiber and more. This kind of commitment can turn off the gene that predisposes to diabetes. Learn more about "gene expression", which is in the process of genes on and off by food choices to fight against the ravages of the disease. The expression of genes is not set in stone at birth

mor protein Eat it, you'll feel more satisfied. Also choose low-glycemic carbohydrates (so instead of eating white bread, multigrain bread). Lokk at the site attached to low glycemic.
