ExtendbarWhat is worse for a diabetic: white bread or wheat bread?

I just visited a website which said that the wheat bread is worse for you then white bread, if you are diabetic. It makes no sense to me that I always thought it was the opposite. Is this true? Please list your sources. Thank you.

I really can not answer the question. When I was diagnosed with diabetes I started reading the labels. I found that there was not much difference in the numbers of carbohydrates in the two loaves. After looking around and reading all the labels, I found a "heart healthy" bread made by Sara Lee. The heart healthy bread contains only 45 calories and 9 grams of carbohydrates per slice. This is the bread that I eat now.
My understanding of the difference between white bread and wheat is that it takes longer for your body processes the wheat, which gives you faster reading level without doping and falls. The numbers of carbohydrates are the same, but the sugars are different. It was confusing for me too, so I kept looking.

White bread, it has more carbs out of wheat, which results in higher blood glucose

white bread is worse.

The wheat bread, whole wheat in particular, is much better because it contains more fiber, which helps slow the absorption of starch (flour), and thus keeps blood sugar more.

According to my nutritionist bread wheat may be worse for a diabetic, because most companies add sugar to wheat. It is best to look at labels before buying. They told me to watch the total carbs minus fiber and sugar alcohols (alcohols are generally Splenda, Equal, etc.)
The best bread to go is usually your rye and pumpernickel breads because they are a low glycemic index than wheat or white bread and companies tend not to add extra sugar to them. I recommend the brand white bread-wheat. It is generally lower in fat, sugar and better for you.
(Also special attention to your body fat content in bread, nor can it be harmful sugar for diabetics, but may be too fat.)

Some wheat breads, including whole wheat breads add molasses to give the bread a darker color. You have to read ingredients and nutrition labeling on all packaged foods.

white flour is worse for everyone. Note I said flour.

I love all the different answers ... according to my dietician and the American Diabetes Association and white wheat bread has the same amount of carbohydrates, but all wheat products stay with you longer than wheat is one of the reasons is always the best choice. im not sure about any other facts but I know it's fair enough I also have evidence of this in my book as I use carbohydrates for each meal.
