Can I mix battery hens bantam hens Ex? Bantams I have 5 different races. I have 4 ex battery hens and give them a good home. Can I mix them or will they fight?
My banter seem so small and delicate compared to the former battery hens.
I also just discovered that one of the banter is a cock!
Not surprising really as it has always ruled the roost.
Is it still the rule colleagues, although it will be much smaller than the former battery hens?
All answers greatly appreciated!
Hard to say off hand, but knowing the poultry over the years, I'll hazard a guess, even if the size is the major concern I think the time they move to tolerate each other even if 'they are not the best of friends.
Chickens are not too happy to welcome newcomers and time in developing the hierarchical order, introductions should be gradual, with no time limit, patience pays off, but you must always be vigilant and ready to step in and fix things if they really Start by drawing up the others.
We accept that men will be men, so why not the same for a rooster, if it works this way, it will certainly make the law, good luck to him.
They are good, I used to introduce new hens night, when the chickens are home perched on their perches. They do not seem to notice the newcomers in the dark and the next morning, they exited the shed together.
Ex battery hens are generally much too feel sorry for themselves to fight. I was 5 and they have been very moderate, does not have feathers and did not know how really Scrat in the dirt, much less fight.
The rooster down the law, even if it is small, it will have a lot of fun trying to walk the new hens!
