MarketplaceDiabetic PizzaPosted on February 18, 2010. Diabetes Type 2 scheme - Why so much hatred, diabetic It Type 2 Diabetes Diet vicious circle. You feel rotten. You want comfort food (mostly sugar and processed flour - cakes, candies, pies, ice cream, pizza). quick sugar rush. Feeling good for one hour. Crash and Burn. The cycle repeats itself. How can we break the cycle of diabetes?
Problem # 1: Medical professionals do not agree on what causes diabetes.
As a Type II diabetic, I basically know what I should eat and what I should be to avoid or eliminate from my diet. A type 2 diabetes diet is not rocket science. Eat real food. Getting enough protein. Avoid processed wheat, sugar and corn syrup fructose corn (HFCS). Simple.
And exercise. Couch Potatoes are at even higher risk.
Life has told you to eat your vegetables. I really hate vegetables, but I did not pick them up at the buffet table either. For me, the only vegetable that I want to consume is V8 juice. If I could, I'd be a tree V8 backpacks and boxes harvested 2 or 3 per day.
Real reasons to hate diabetic dietary restrictions:
1. Force. We are adults, the name of God. We should be able to do and eat what we want.
2. Even if I did not have diabetes, I do not want a plan. Each new fashion and the food pyramid and the injection of the hormone seems more stupid than the previous. If the plans work, the diet book section at Barnes and Noble would have a volume.
3. People often eat things that are not good for them. Beer. Bourbon. Cigarettes. How bad can a slice and a Coke to be?
4. The food we want and we now have to avoid are those who brought the disease in the first place.
5. Chicken or the egg. If I did not feel like Edy's Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookie ice cream, and did not develop diabetes, I could eat whatever I want. Now that I want, I can not get it.
6. Jonesing for sugar. If they invent a pizza with apple pie filling, I'm in. For most of my life, the sugar is a food group.
7. Conflict of medical information. The coffee is not good, or maybe if you drink it black. The fruit is OK one day and too rich in sugar next. Avoid all sugars, or small portions of what you want. Eat less animal fat, but get your protein.
Doctors - get the answers right before touching the Today Show. If you do not have an answer, how can we.
In fact, many Type II diabetics can do it on a diet doctors recommend for everyone, especially our obese Americans on the SAD (Standard American Diet) diet.
Low-fat Low sugar low salt -Lots of fruit and vegetables whole grains, beans, potatoes
You have to experiment for yourself. An inexpensive meter blood test will tell you if it is time to have a glass of water and a handful of almonds to get the blood sugar down. Work with your doctor to develop a plan for food and medicines.
Doctors may be strongly influenced by drug companies, but they are even more dependent on the confidence of their patients. Personally, I think a diet diabetes type 2 lean meat, fish, whole foods, fruits and vegetables can not only keep diabetes in check while reducing obesity and reducing disease risk Heart, stroke and dementia.
