meals for diabetics? Is there a site where I can enter what I have in my cupboards and it helps to plan my meals? Every site I've been I can plan, but it gives me what they want to give. I will not go out and spend an obscene amount of money for their meals when I have food in my cupboards. I can not afford to be diabetic, but I have no choice.
The best advice I can give you is to learn as much as you can about proper nutrition. I do not even think ... It's automatic. By adhering to simple principles, my (type 2) diabetes was reversed significantly. So much so, that I quit taking medication for it in December. The diet, I'm joining? Dr. Fuhrman diet: http://www.drfuhrman.com/
It is so easy, you just make sure and stick to most natural foods or those that remain untouched by humans as possible. In other words, minimize or avoid refined, enriched, prepared foods, etc.. It's all about nutrition high and low glycemic index / low calorie foods.
It is well to try to understand this stuff to begin with, I mean the food a diabetic can eat without having to empty the pantry and start over.
Click here and you can imput the ingredients of a recipe in the form and it will give you information on nutrition: http://www.nutritiondata.com/
You can go to http://www.fitday.com to imput your ideas pantry, but I do not think that works that way.
I firmly believe in the meat and food leaf! 3 ounces of cooked meat and a huge salad of green leaves with tomatoes and other good things in it with a salad dressing real.
I have eggs and bacon for breakfast. meat and salad for lunch and dinner. I nuts, tart apples, berries and dark for snacks.
Really a very simple diet.
Stay away from white bread, sugar and too many foods rich in carbohydrates. Eat smaller meals instead of three. Balance your meals with protein, carbohydrate and fiber. You do not have to buy expensive food.
I know that the Internet can be useful on a lot of fronts, but the specific help you are looking for may be difficult to obtain.
Are you a newly diagnosed diabetic? Or have you had diabetes for some time?
Being diabetic is not funny, I know. I have since 1996 and there are all sorts of foods you need to know to avoid and not avoid.
Did you give your doctor a list of do's and don'ts of eating diabetic? Do you have high sugar or low sugar, or both? Maybe if you talked to your doctor, he or she may be able to help you better. A little know how on your common food items should be useful not only for your body but also your wallet. Being diabetic should not be expensive either.
Good luck to you and hope you have a good weekend!
My doctor VA Clinic To me, his mother is a diabetic type 1. I AM A TYPE II. And I've had since 98. You CAN make your own meals. When you see the number of a diabetic cookbook CALL number and they will send you a form. I LIKE this book. I can make cakes with sugar as EQUAL. I love fresh coffee with Equal. Email me and I LOOK FOR THAT number or a website for you.
I started a new directory on my blog site with menus that may fit your bill. The meals are simple and hopefully not boring. I'll add more from time to time.
Visit my blog site and see what you think.
