People with celiac gluten intolerance, not eligible for a tax deduction? I know people with celiac, but I'm non-celiac gluten intolerant and have the same types of expenses. Am I entitled to something?
The only people who can answer this question is the IRS and even if they say yes, I'm not sure it's worth it for one person. You do not have to document how much you paid more for food without gluten than ordinary foods and spend more than the minimum detailed medical deductions. So when you do your taxes this year, put $ 1,000 in medical expenses and see what happens if anything. Then, take the exit 1000.
