Treat your family or guests to something different for breakfast. You can serve the pancakes without standing on the plate making this sausage oven pancake in the oven. Set maple syrup (or a choice of syrups) on the table with this hot-of-the baked pancake sausage cut into squares. The George Forman Texas Style Sausage makes 8 patties, using a half-pound of lean ground beef, spices, etc. It's surprising a good sausage.

SAUSAGE OVEN PANCAKE

This recipe clipping seems to have been cut from some kind of newsletter type community. Otherwise, I have no idea where it came from. He was in the recipe collection of my late mother.

8-oz package brown 'n serve sausage type
1 cup pancake mix
1 / 4 c. teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 / 4 c. ground nutmeg
1 / 2 cup milk
1 egg
1 / 2 cup chopped apples

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

Brown sausages according to package directions. In a bowl, combine pancake mix, cinnamon, nutmeg, milk and eggs. Mix the dough until smooth. Lightly run the apple mixture. Pour into a well greased 10x6x1 1/2-inch baking dish. Arrange sausages on top. Bake at 450 degrees for 20 minutes. hot with maple syrup.

Yield: 5 servings

TEXAS SAUSAGE FORMAN GEORGE'S STYLE

1 egg white, lightly beaten

1 / 3 cup finely chopped onion

1 / 4 cup seasoned bread crumbs

1 / 4 cup diced green chilies

1 large clove garlic, finely chopped

2 v. tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro

1 tsp tablespoons apple cider vinegar

1 1 / 2 tsp teaspoon chili powder

1 / 4 c. teaspoon sea salt

1 / 8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 / 2 lb. lean ground beef, preferably 90% lean

In a medium bowl, combine egg white, onion, bread crumbs, green peppers, garlic, coriander, vinegar and spices. Stir to mix well. Add ground beef and mix well. Shaping eight patties. Preheat (George Forman) grill or a large nonstick skillet. Add meat and cook until, turning once or twice. Our patties are done when the meat is no longer pink in center and juices run clear.
