Bratwurst sausages are mostly German style that use either pork, veal or beef as main ingredient. To give these sausages a special unique taste acceptable, people usually add nutmeg, ginger and pepper to spice flavors. More often than not, these sausages are served with sauerkraut, which is essentially a dish of cabbage special, sandwiched in a regular bread. Otherwise, there are still many other ways to cook bratwurst. Three of the most common ways to do this either by adding beer, grilled, or cooked in water.

Cooking with Beer Bratwurst

Many different ways of cooking bratwurst, one of the simplest and most interesting to do is to use beer. More importantly, a tablespoon of butter, sweet onions, sliced ΒΌ, bratwurst and four are needed to cook this dish tasty. In a normal-sized saucepan, pour in at least two bottles of beer, before adding the butter and allow it to melt into a syrupy form. Wait until the liquid becomes very hot before adding the onions and German sausages inside the pot. Allow the syrup until it adheres completely to the sausage. Using hot dog buns usually put inside the bread and top each bratwurst with sauerkraut for a really tasty and satisfying meal.

How to Grill Bratwurst

Apart from cooking the bratwurst in beer, people can also do something special this dish by grilling. After the beer has turned into a syrupy substance, remove the sausages from the pan, then place on top of a wood fire. Allow them to stay at least four to five minutes per side until they are completely cooked. Make sandwiches again, this time using chopsticks or hotdog buns, adding the cooked onions and mustard for the richer taste and flavor.

Meanwhile, a stove can also be used in this simple process, if ever there is no grill available at home. Put the bratwurst in a pan with the syrupy mixture of beer, then wait a few minutes until the liquid evaporates completely and the dish turned into a rich layer of flavor to sausages. Once again, the use of hot dog buns or other bread shapes in which the sausages fit perfectly. Add mustard, onion and other flavorings additional results more flavorful and delicious.

Cooking Bratwurst in water

For those who do not want their bratwurst in beer, they can use water instead of cook their sausages. By using a skillet, fill at least half with water before putting sausages. To make the cooking process as smooth as possible, do not soak the whole sausages underwater. In addition, use a fork to make some holes on the bratwurst, which will allow them to cook properly inside. Switch the stove over medium heat, then cover the pan until the liquid inside to dry completely. After a few more minutes, remove the lid and wait until the sausages to cook completely before adding the onions, mustard and other flavors.
