bourgeois luxury
Cosmetics
Western music

Please can you help me with reasons why they were banned?

With the exception of religion (true communists do not believe in God or deities of any kind) while the rest was a product of Western culture and regarded as decadent and corrupt.
materialistic items and luxury of separate classes if there were no "equal". Western music (rock and roll ... horrors! And Jazz) has welcomed the sex and the fact of the rebellious youth. It was designed to destroy the fabric of society and ruin people.
The concept of Marxism assumes that the evil characteristics are caused in people due to external factors.
In other words, the Marxists believe that people are not born with the potential for evil, they gather in their environment. If this is the case, then what Mao was trying to purge the environment of what he regarded as decadent objects.
He believed that if you delete objects decadent practices and replace them with "politically correct" objects and teachings that people become good Communists.
This is ridiculous, and of course it failed, but how Marxism sees the world.
