Balanced Vegetarian Diet

Balanced Vegetarian DietCan you have a balanced vegetarian diet without nuts?

I have two girls, we hate the meat and the other has been saying for some time it would be a vegetarian because she can not bear the thought of eating animals. I love vegetarian food there would be no problem for me.

But the girl who hates meat (and most vegetables) is very allergic to nuts, peanuts and certain nuts. Does anyone know if it would still be possible for her to have a balanced diet, and how?

Yes, easily. Nuts are a source enough protein, but most are calories from fat. They are a good snack, but should not be a source of protein in the diet anyone - too high in fat and calories.

Try to put all the white grains and refined (white bread, white rice) to whole grain and brown rice. Try new types of whole grains such as barley or quinoa. Whole grains are made from whole grain - most pasta is made from white wheat that has been stripped of the most nutritious, high fiber and high protein layers. In fact, it's so unhealthy that there are mandates for companies that use white flour for refortify after the transformation takes place. Whole grains are naturally high in protein and fiber and are naturally grain and are head and shoulders over refined grains and "white" bread and pasta.

Beans and legumes are rich in protein, fiber and nutrients. Try different kinds - beans, chickpeas, lentils, peas. Make soups, stews, chili. You can make patties-like black beans. They are versatile and beautiful.

Try soy products - soy is a complete protein that USDA and FDA both admit to be as important and nutritious as animal protein. Buy a few trays of tofu, or go to Whole Foods or another natural foods store and try tempeh (which is brick fermented soybean).

Look for recipes - it is vital to learn to work these foods. As someone who has never cooked chicken before or has no idea what to do with it would probably cook something that makes a total, hideous mess, the same would happen without finding how use tofu or tempeh. If used correctly you can have a wide range of delicious meals - I stroganoff tempeh, tofu and vegetables stir-fried tofu nuggets, etc.

There are other types of nuts, but it is possible to have a balanced diet without them.
