MarketplaceArby's Calorie CountPosted on April 6, 2010. Link between obesity and Lethal Fast Foods We are a nation of addicts and our dependence is spreading worldwide. No, this is not tobacco or alcohol abuse, although widespread. It is our addiction to fast food is killing us. Americans consume thousands of pounds of fat cheese every day. Not to mention the fries and drinks. The total number of calories for this basic, no frills fare Ronnies steak house is huge 1200! Add just a vanilla shake triple thickness of about 1110 calories and you are in your daily limit.
There is no way to escape the assault, every small town in the nation has at least the fast-food restaurant. Much more than that, in my town of less than 25,000 people, we have McDonald's, Hardees, Arby's, Taco Bell, Quiznos, Dairy Queen, Burger King 3 Sonics, two subways and pizza joints than I can count. With this type of saturation, it is not surprising that obesity fast food is the greatest threat to health faster rising?
Anyone who had seen the documentary Super Size Me was shocked not only the link between fast food and obesity causes, but also the risks to the health of others show highlighted. We knew that food was probably not good for us, but even the doctors involved in this experiment never dreamed that a person can have liver damage from fast food. If you have not seen the film, Morgan Spurlock ate Mcdonalds for 30 days in the documentary.
Clearly, our love affair with the cheeseburger has lasted long enough, but is there really a link between fast food and the causes of obesity?
Since fast food began in 1960, America has consistently received heavier. Today, 60% of us are overweight and a full 25% are obese. Alarmingly, it appears that our children do not escape the trap of either. Today, there was a 40% increase in type II diabetes in children, a disease that was once known as adult because he did not strike until about 50 years. In addition, let us not mislead obesity causes diabetes type II.
But perhaps they are all just strange coincidences. Let us look at the McDonald's Happy Meal that calories are not given for meals on their menu, we can take the parts and add our car.
Cheeseburger-300
Small Fry-230
Small Coke - 110 (we all know they are not drinking juice)
That totals 690 calories, nearly half the recommended daily intake! Keep in mind that it is unnecessary to free basic small meals, make meals, the older child or a regular Big Mac meal and the total jump even higher. If you think it's bad check on the number of calories for Double Whopper, 920 calories, and this is just the burger without cheese! Maybe this is not a coincidence after all. It is clear that fast food is a cause of obesity.
So what exactly is the problem? What if a few people and their children get obesity fast food? It's a free country, we should be able to do what we love. Yet perhaps we need to be informed about the impact this will have on our health. People who are obese have a fast food health risk. Diseases associated with obesity are Type II diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease and stroke. Each of these diseases can be at best debilitating and fatal at worst. The danger increases with the amount of weight and age as well as other bad habits such as smoking or alcohol consumption. causes of obesity in America is a problem that we desperately need to solve is a time bomb. Imagine if more than half the people in the country have been disabled. This leaves 40% of the nation and working to try to cover disability benefits and health care. It is a serious risk to our country, but more than that, we have a population at risk of dying too young because of obesity fast food.
